Audi has switched to Maxar for 2019+ models as the satellite image provider, and has a software update to switch eligible existing models. There isn't an MMI for your car that supports satellite images. Replacing the MMI won't help in your old car. So the satellite images you still see are cached on your system, but it's not loading any new ones, so that's why they are getting blurry the moment it runs out of cached data. Google shut down the old API that the MMI was using. Google Earth is discontinued for the MMI. Even input such as ' My GEMMI works fine', since that let's me know that it may be worth it to change the MMI system.Ĭan the issue be cause by it being an imported vehicle? Is there some region setting that I need to change? Does anyone have any idea to what next steps I can take to try to resolve the issue? Any input is appreciated. Is this a common issue on MMI 3G+ systems? I have only seen very few people mention it, and no solution so far. I have been in love with the B8 platform since 2007 so it’s hard for me to say goodbye. I have also been considering getting an older low milage B8.5 RS4 but I am worried that my problems with GE are going to continue in that car. I am getting closer and closer to replacing the MMI, but with the car being almost 7 years old I feel that it is time to upgrade to a newer car model soon. Using the functions under GEMMI in the green screen also has no effect on the connection, is it possible to write a script that forces GE to reconnect without having to restart the MMI? To bring the connection to GE back I have to restart the MMI.Īs a small funny sidenote, I had to enable erotic content on one of the SIM cards I tried in 2020 in order to get access to the Audi Connect Features. Eventually the GE overlay will shutdown though and the only thing I have managed to learn from the GEMMI logger is that the final event before connection is lost is: ‘ Network down on frame XXXX’. I feel like the K0942 firmware and iPhone tethering has made a difference, the 4G/5G connection from my phone has definitely provided a more stable connection. Enabled DrGER’s (A5OC) GEMMI logger script to monitor connection status.Reinstalled GEMMI from the K0942 firmware.Using AMI -> USB -> Ethernet -> MR3020 -> iPhone to connect to the internet.

The GE problem was present from the day I got the car in early December 2019.When I received the car, the system had never been touched and was running Firmware P0900 with the original 2015 maps on it.It was produced for the German market (EU) and imported to Denmark (EU) in 2019.The car is a late 2015 Audi S4 B8.5 Avant with MMI 3G+, it was first registered in January 2016.I do not believe that it is a hardware problem, but I may be wrong. I never took their advice to replace the MMI system since it was very costly and the car was out of warranty. Since GE has officially been shut down, they refuse to touch it. Audi suggested swapping the MMI system with a new one when I first went to the dealer with the issue in 2019. Google Earth Satellite view stops refreshing after 20-30 min of driving causing a blurry landscape - I have tried multiple things to address the problem but nothing has worked so far.
